Welcome back to the Helping Hands Highlights: Conversations with Wedding Pros Series!
This series is all about connecting engaged couples with exceptional wedding vendors we’ve personally worked with and wholeheartedly recommend. As a vendor team, we’ve had the privilege of collaborating with talented, reliable professionals—and we’re excited to share their stories with you.
Today, we’re featuring Nikhil Mirchandani, co-founder of Mix & Mingle Bartending. Nikhil and his team bring more than just drinks to the party—they bring personality, presence, and a heartfelt commitment to hospitality that truly elevates the guest experience.
I had the pleasure of working with Nikhil at a recent wedding I coordinated, and I was so impressed. Not only was he incredibly friendly and engaging with guests, but he also stepped in to help beyond his typical role to keep things running smoothly. That kind of teamwork and genuine care doesn’t go unnoticed.
Let’s dive into the interview and learn more about what makes Mix & Mingle Bartending such a standout vendor in the San Diego wedding scene.
The Interview
Introduce yourself and tell us about your business.

My name is Nikhil, and I’m the co-founder of Mix & Mingle Bartending.
Alongside my best friend and business partner, Raenn, we created this business with a shared passion for hospitality and creating unforgettable experiences.
Mix & Mingle was born out of the idea that bartending is more than just pouring drinks—it’s about connecting with people, setting the tone for the event, and making guests feel genuinely welcomed and taken care of.
Veronica Martinez-Goodman comment: Love this! We’ve definitely seen how much you value connection while working with you.
What inspired you to get into the wedding industry?
Our mantra has always been “Making Memories Through Mixology.”
We are passionate about taking care of others, and there’s no better opportunity to do that than on a couple’s wedding day—one of the most meaningful days of their lives.
We wanted to use our craft not just to serve drinks, but to elevate the entire experience through hospitality, connection, and custom cocktails that reflect each couple’s unique style and story.
VMG comment: Love this mantra! Your dedication to the customer and their guests truly stands out. We couldn’t help but notice the extra level of happiness around you .
How long have you been in this line of work, and what do you love most about it?
I’ve been in the hospitality industry for over 10 years, and what I love most is the opportunity to connect with others. Every event brings new faces, stories, and energy—and being able to build relationships with guests and clients is rewarding.
People are truly my passion, and those connections are what make this work so meaningful to me.
VMG comment: From our first meeting I knew you were a great vendor AND a team player with other companies. The relationships built at events often surprise us with how meaningful they are. It starts with a deep level of care and passion that vendors possess, and it’s that care that drives the best work, which you clearly demonstrate!
What specific services do you offer to couples, and what makes your approach unique?
Our unique approach is that we do not have one universal answer for their events.
Each event that we do is different, so we use a personal touch to tailor our own expertise into creating a magical event to compliment the vision of the client.
How do you tailor your services to fit a couple’s unique vision or needs?
We don’t really believe in a one-size-fits-all service.
Every couple and every event is different, so we personalize everything! We use our expertise to craft an experience that complements the client's vision to create an unforgettable experience.
What’s one thing couples might not know about what goes into your work?
We invest a lot of time in preparing for each event because our goal is to ensure everything runs smoothly.
From planning logistics to organizing supplies and perfecting the drink menu, we focus on the details so there are no surprises—just great service and a stress-free experience for my clients. That preparation also allows us to stay flexible and adapt quickly if anything unexpected comes up, so the couple never has to worry.
VMG comment: We’ve seen this preparation and adaptability in action! Your bar setup is amazing and at one event we worked with you, you were so quick to offer assistance even with some tasks typically outside your scope of work.
What’s a common mistake or regret you see, and how can couples avoid it?
One thing I see a lot is couples waiting too long to book their vendors.
The best ones get booked up quickly, especially for popular dates. If there is a service you know you want to work with, don’t wait! Locking them in early saves you the stress of trying to find someone good last minute! |
What is your number one tip for newly engaged couples planning their wedding?
Live in the moment.
Your wedding day will go by faster than you can imagine, so be present and soak in every second. Don’t stress over the little things and enjoy the experience. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime celebration, and it deserves to be felt fully, and without worry.
VMG comment: Yes, we so agree with this and it’s one of the drivers behind our business as well—we loved our special day and want other people to experience that joy for themselves.
What is your number one tip for couples toward the end of the planning process?
Keep it simple and start letting go a little!
The final stretch can feel hectic, but this is the time to lean on those around you and hand off anything you don’t need to be doing.
Trust the people in your life, tie up the loose ends, and focus on soaking in the excitement. You’re about to have one of the best days of your life—don’t let a to-do list get in the way of that.
Do you have any tips for couples who feel overwhelmed by too many options?
Yes—keep it simple and stay true to yourselves.
With so many choices out there, it’s easy to feel like you have to do it all. But honestly, you don’t. Focus on what’s most meaningful to you as a couple, and let go of the rest. Sometimes the simplest choices end up being the most special.
If you could change one thing about how weddings are typically planned, what would it be?
I wish weddings were less about checking boxes and more about celebrating the couple in a way that’s meaningful to them.
At the end of the day, it’s about two people in love—so why not make it all about them? Whether that means ditching certain traditions or doing something totally different, I think couples should feel free to celebrate in a way that feels personal, fun, and true to who they are.
Can you share a memorable moment or favorite wedding experience you’ve had?
One moment that stands out was a large-scale wedding that Raenn and I bartended together, with over 300 guests in attendance.
As the day progressed, watching the celebration unfold, seeing guests light up as they enjoyed our cocktails, and feeling the energy build around the bar—it was incredible.

It was one of those moments where we looked at each other and thought, “We really built something special.” That sense of pride and connection reminded us exactly why we do what we do.
VMG comment: Wow, what a powerful moment! Witnessing guests enjoy themselves is such a special feeling, and it really gives us a sense of purpose too.
What do you think sets your business apart in the wedding industry?
We center everything around hospitality.
Anyone can make a drink—but what truly matters to us is building meaningful connections.
We pride ourselves on creating experiences, not just cocktails. From the moment we connect with a couple, our goal is to make them feel cared for, understood, and supported.
That level of personal attention is why so many of our clients rave about us. We’re not just bartenders—we’re vendor partners for life.
VMG comment: After our first event working together, I knew you were a wonderful vendor to be connected with and had to ask you to be a part of this series. Your value of meaningful connection is so evident and we are so glad to have you featured!
How can couples best get in touch with you, and what should they prepare for an initial consultation?
We keep it simple and stress-free! Couples can reach out to us through any of our active platforms. We are quick to respond and can usually provide a quote within minutes.
To help us understand your vision, we have a Google form that gathers a few event details.
From there, we’re happy to hop on a call, continue the conversation over text or email.
Our goal is to make the process as easy and personalized as possible from the very beginning.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with couples?
We feel incredibly blessed to do what we love every single day.
Watching our vision come to life has been nothing short of surreal.
Along the way, we’ve met so many amazing people and formed lasting connections that continue to inspire us.
Being part of such a special chapter in someone’s life is an honor we never take for granted.
