4 Common Wedding Regrets You Don’t Want to Experience at Your San Diego Wedding: A Guide to Savoring Every Moment

Updated: Nov 21

Your wedding ceremony’s over, you’re on your way back to your beachy San Diego hotel.

You’re floating on the emotional high of the night, your feet sore from dancing your heart out. The night air is fresh, and life feels dreamy.

This’s how it should be after your wedding. Happiness, bubbly feelingslooking to your new future ahead.

Sadly, some couples leave their wedding flustered. Being good hosts, the bride and groom were dedicated to ensuring others were happy, but this left them handling logistical nightmare after logistical nightmare, stuck with the task of constantly curtailing chaos!

It’s your wedding! You deserve to let loose and have your fun as well.

In an effort to spread wedding joy, here are four common wedding regrets that prevent folks from savoring each moment of their wedding.

1.Overlooking How Long Everything Takes!

When you plan your wedding, you’re thinking efficiently. You’re in that DIY mode. Discounts, deals, tight budgets. You map it all out. But when it comes down to the actual event, it’s a celebration!

Efficiency is not what celebrations are about, and part of enjoying your wedding is not being stuck in an efficiency-obsessed mindset.

It’s important to remember and plan for everything taking MORE time. Set up. Managing logistics during the wedding (food, drink refills, trash, etc.) Clean up at the end of the night. These crucial parts of each wedding always take longer than we anticipate, so when booking help, be sure to book help for a reasonable (and often longer) amount of time!

2. Choosing the Right Vendors

Specifically, choosing the right DJ and photographer.

There are some truly amazing DJs and photographers out there. But it’s really important to find ones that match YOUR style and vibe. Besides, the freedom to choose your style is a huge benefit of DIY—you might as well lean into it!

It’s worth it (and free!) to spend extra time researching and reviewing their work, and really sitting on whether or not their aesthetic matches yours.

Wedding magic comes from your vision, and each component matters! You’ll want photos you’ll love to look back on with warm, fuzzy feelings. You’ll want a DJ that gets even your shyest friends and family members on the dance floor.

3. Not Enough Down Time for the Bride and Groom

In the whirlwind of a wedding day, it’s easy for the bride and groom to become caught up in the excitement and forget to carve out moments for themselves.

You might regret not having enough time to catch your breath, enjoy a meal, or spend a quiet moment together. Schedule breaks into your day and map out time to visit each table, greet guests, and catch a breath.

4. Not Scheduling Enough Time to Party!

In our experience, it’s worth it to pay a little extra to extend your time at your venue. Again, when we’re in the DIY mindset of planning, we can’t always plan for fun, spontaneity, and surprising moments of joy.

Scheduling more time together allows for more of these moments outside of the standard ceremony. And if you prefer not to schedule more time at the venue, consider an after-party location, such as a bar or club.

In Conclusion…

Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life.

By avoiding these common regrets and focusing on careful planning, you can ensure every moment is lived to the fullest. Embrace the help, choose vendors who fit your style, schedule downtime, plan for partying, and don’t forget to prioritize having fun and making memories!

Look back on your wedding with warm feelings and a smile, remembering only good times and the San Diego sun.

Here’s to your special day being everything you dreamed it to be and more.
